Exploring graphs of functions

• On this screen, you will explore the graphs of five types of functions. The blue labels at the bottom of the figure list the types:

The gray box at the top of the screen shows the equation of the function being graphed.

• Click on any blue label to graph a basic example of that function type. Then drag the sliders at the top right to vary the example.

• When you drag the horizontal slider, both the equation and the graph change.
The graph moves horizontally.
How does the equation change?

• When you drag the vertical slider, the graph moves up or down, or gets squashed in the vertical direction.
In each case, how does the equation change?
